Take me out to the ballgame.. Take me out to the crowd..

The Indo-American Forum of Fort Bend (IAF) hosted a fun evening of baseball for the community. About 250 people were in attendance on August 24, 2018 making the IAF social event a grand success.

Infused Performing Arts kickstarted the evening with a musical vibe. A colorful array of dance performances with intricate costumes looked stunning against the baseball field with the Sugar Land Skeeters playing the New Britain Bees.

With the setting sun providing a magnificent backdrop, Event Chair and IAF Board Member Shikha Gupta threw out the first pitch. A presentation, educating the crowd regarding the mission and goals of the IAF and how they have contributed to the community over the last 14 years, was shown on the scoreboard. The slideshow included many of the causes and events that the IAF has been associated with. An instrumental rendition of “Yeh Sham Mastaani” played in the background during the presentation, and IAF President Naren Patel addressed the crowd.

The IAF also celebrated August birthdays at the stadium in a very unique and heartwarming way by flashing the birthday names on the scoreboard. Specially designed cakes for the occasion sweetened the night.

A sumptuous buffet was prepared by the talented chefs of Skeerters stadium. The menu consisted of lemon rice salad, falafel with pickled vegetables, cucumber yogurt raita, chicken kabob with biryani, veggie burgers, and diced seasonal fruit.

The night ended with a dazzling fireworks display.

It was truly a wonderful night arranged by the IAF providing an opportunity for patrons to gather. Tickets were subsidized by the IAF to support the Indo-American community.

The IAF would like to thank Navin Mediwala for superbly capturing the evening through his lens and the Open Forum radio talk show of Houston. Open Forum conducts talk shows, regarding topics of interest to Indian community, every Saturday from 4-6pm on 106.1FM, and live via webcast on humfmradio.com.
