Berg Hospitality Sensationalizes HTown with exciting Italian Fare and Secret Lounge The TRATTORIA SOFIA Experience & Emilia’s Havana

Trattoria Sofia, a new Heights restaurant

This holiday season I had the privilege to experience few of Houston’s favorites and new highlights. I started the winter break with an Italian getaway. Nestled in the Houston Heights, Trattoria Sofia is a Berg Hospitality Group concept that serves authentic, rustic Italian food in an intimate, romantic setting. With a focus on seasonal items, fresh ingredients and market availability, the menu features classic dishes served with a new twist. The neighborhood hotspot features a charming dining room and patio reminiscent of a secret garden, where guests feel as if they’ve been transported to Italy. It was indeed an romantic setting with dim lights and intimate setting.

“We want this concept to bring something entirely new to Houstonians by allowing them to explore the regions of Italy through their dining experience,” said Benjamin Berg, founder of Berg Hospitality Group. “When people come in for a meal, they’ll truly feel like they’ve left Houston and been transported to a place where they can sit back and enjoy the food and incredible ambiance.”

And what better way could we start the new year than at Houston’s best kept secret: Emilia’s Havana. This is how it works, you make a reservation for the club/lounge, walk up to the receptionist at The Annie Café & Bar and they will escort you to the kitchen (very mysterious).

Discreetly located next to The Annie Café & Bar, Emilia’s Havana is an intimate lounge reminiscent of a vibrant 1950s Cuban club with a luxe Latin vibe. The latest from Berg Hospitality Group, we got to enjoy inventive interpretations of classic and contemporary Cuban-inspired cocktails by the James Beard award winning mixologist, Alba Huerta, along with an elevated wine list and bottle service. Perfect for a post-dinner snack, the light, Latin-inspired small plates by Executive Chef Brian Sutton are not to be missed. The highlight of the evening? The live “bossa nova style” music performed at every seating by the house band along with tunes by local DJs on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s definitely an experience. From date night to girls night out, Emilia’s Havana will certainly be a night to remember.
