Tis the Season for Shades of Roses and Love
Seasons 52 Restaurant Managing Partner Reuben Rolf opened his heart to underwrite an outstanding kick-off party at his trendy River Oaks Westheimer location, July 8, for The Holly Rose Ribbon Foundation upcoming Shades of Roses extravagant five course wine/benefit dinner, to be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Fleming’s in River Oaks.
“The idea is to get people thinking in September about October breast cancer awareness month,” said CEO and Founder Cindi Rose. Loyal pink-hearted chairs Kim Padgett and Jessica Rossman could not agree more. The event, which filled out quickly with over 200 beautiful minded people in support of honorees of the September elaborate wine dinner: Alex Martinez and Diane Caplan, both who have either lost a parent to cancer or who have a parent to cancer. The mission of the foundation began with a seed idea to help the under and uninsured with free breast cancer reconstruction surgery (an operation that can cost up to $250,000) to feel well and whole, and to put normal back into critical illness. The non-profit also provides free art group classes to cancer patients at Texas Children’s Hospital, and offers scholarships to students who lost a parent to any cancer, or have cancer or leukemia. “We also do grief counseling, diet and stress counseling, and support groups,” Cindi Rose said.
The natural brick background was perfect for the 12 string original New Age jazz compositions by singer and song-writer Michael DeMarse who added joy to the evening. Seasons 52 passed exotic flatbreads, shrimp, scallops, and stuffed mushrooms, while serving South African Chardonnay and Chilean Cabernet.
