Spirit of Spring Luncheon
Spring is in full bloom which was evident at the 13th Annual Spirit of Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show, Beautiful Journeys hosted at the Intercontinental Hotel in Galleria on April 4, 2012 to benefit The Children’s Assessment Center. Fashionably dressed A-List Houstonians gathered to enjoy an afternoon with award winning actress and humanitarian, Ashley Judd along with a fashion show by Neiman Marcus.
The Spirit of Spring Luncheon is CAC’s biggest event of the year and this year’s event chairs Diane Caplan and Nancy Golden‘s efforts were showcased by the impressive 500 plus guest attendance. The gala luncheon was very well organized, filled with excitement and style. An exquisite fashion show grabbed our attention where guests had a first hand opportunity to learn from the expert. Neiman Marcus Senior Vice President and Fashion Director, Ken Downing, showcased his spring forecast of incredible fashions. His predictions: Think Pink Pink and more Pink. Pale pink, hot pink or neon pink. Another huge trend this season is the sporty influence with a classy twist. Team jog pants with something chic. Next up Yellow is definitely not a dirty fellow. Lastly, bring on the 1920s.
If that was not enough, Mistress of Ceremonies, Talk Show Host Deborah Duncan mesmerized the audience with an exclusive tete-a-tete with the lovely Ashley Judd. It was a very powerful repartee of questions and answers where Judd opened her heart to the audience sharing her childhood experiences. She said that the cause was very important as the life of a child is very tough and sensitive. She also mentioned that it is important to turn our mistakes and misfortunes to strength and self care is not a selfish act.
The Children’s Assessment Center disclosed some shocking numbers of child abuse victims but the good news is that like every year, the center is making great progress with extraordinary board members and supporters. Must say it was a spring start with high energy and an inspirational afternoon. For more information on the organization visit cachouston.org.
