Grand Opening of BlackFinn American Grille

An impressive crowd of 300 plus people gathered at the opening of Midtown restaurant BlackFinn on Thursday November 10, 2011 by invitation only. This says something about Houston’s party scene.

With a new wave of development underway, Midtown Houston is again expanding its appeal as a preferred in-town neighborhood. Situated in the pedestrian-friendly street scene of Post Midtown Square and Midtown Park, the restaurant BlackFinn American Grille, will formally debut on November 17, 2011. With roots in Midtown Manhattan, the ground floor Midtown Houston venue is the second BlackFinn American Grille in the country, following Jacksonville, Florida.

It will most definitely be the new hangout place for Houstonians as it encompasses nearly 11,000 square feet with an expansive covered patio fronting Pierce Street, the concept and space is remarkably different from anything in Midtown or Houston.

Stuart Rosenberg from Studio Communications took me on a tour of the restaurant as the venue gleams with wood beams and high-end finishes creating an understatedly rich ambiance, The Dining Room is a celebration of the people and places of Houston. Vibrant photographs, reflecting the City and its history, line the walls and flank a central gas fireplace with massive hearth, while iconic oil-industry accessories, including a prominent and motorized statue of an oil derrick, provide a unique focal point.

BlackFinn’s menu features American classics and new concepts specifically created for Houston and made with locally-sourced ingredients. Their signature items include appetizers like the BlackFinn Crab Tower, Blackened Brie and Southern Nachos with Barbequed Pulled Pork.

Attending the party Chris and Divya Brown, Sarah Tucker, Sharon and Errol McLaughlin, Erin Florescu, Abe Pacetti, Greg Stackhouse, Lauren Levicki, Dr. Franklin and Cindi Rose, Chef Jeramie Robison, Sam and Tina Governale, and other foodies.
