Fashionista of the Month | Paromita Mitra
Aerospace engineer and beauty pageant winner Miss Mississippi USA was recently having a great time in Las Vegas competing for the Miss USA 2013 Title. Lights Camera Action is proud to call her the ‘Fashionsta of the Month’ and the entire South Asian community in the USA is cheering for her success. Originally from Bangladesh, daughter of Dr. Amal and Ratna Mitra, Paromita grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
This twenty-one year old beauty queen adorned in a salwar kameez (Indian attire), she fixes her crown and settles down with Lights Camera Action Lifestyle Host Ruchi Mukherjee to chat about her fashion and style statement and what’s in her closet.
Absolutely in love with her South Asian roots, Paromita not only loves chicken curry and rice, she also enjoys wearing Bollywood inspired outfits and at least tries to incorporate elements of Indian fashion in her style statement. “To be comfortable in your own skin, is such a beautiful thing, and that to me is sexy,” says Paromita.
Tell us about your favorite styles and designers?
I love fashion and truly admire you and your style. I admire people who experiment and don’t just play it safe. I cannot just mention one favorite designer but I do like Tom Ford, as I have my eyes on those pair of latest sunglasses by Tom Ford. While I admire high end designers like Chanel, Dior or Louis Vuitton I have to confess, my absolute obsession is for good bargains. I enjoyed trying new styles at a local Houston boutique Lavo Collections in Rice Village. One can always dress it up with exotic accessories.
What’s in your closet?
Ahh (laughs!) You don’t want to know. Just Kidding! I have my favorite Indian outfits, bangles, big chandelier earrings, and evening gowns. I am very picky about my swim suits and love my look for Miss USA 2013 – a white and gold gown.
You would not step out without?
My high heels. I am a shoe lover and truly believe that women look elegant and graceful with high heels.
