Derby Extravaganza at the Fertitta Residence
Big brimmed Hats, Hearts, & Horseshoes wins again for Bo’s Place on a gorgeous sunny Saturday afternoon on May 4, 2019.
Houston’s dynamic lady Hallie Vanderhider served as Chair for this Derby Soirée who along with Honorary Chairs, Megan and Luke Hotze and Hannah and Cal McNair were thrilled to raise over $350,000. Along with the gorgeous warm weather, what made the afternoon so heartwarming was Hallie’s speech. It took courage to share about her loss and her grief of losing a child with the crowd. “To lose a child or anybody out of the natural order of life is hard. Your strongest faith can be shaken and let me tell you, if we had known about a place like Bo’s Place, our lives would have been further along much faster than we did struggling on our own,” tells Hallie.
This was once again a sold out event for the running of the Kentucky Derby, with over 400 supporters at the home of Paige and Tilman Fertitta.
“Bo’s Place helps families that are grieving in their journey to find a renewed hope for the future. It’s a non-profit, free-of-charge bereavement center,” explains Mary Beth Staine, Executive Director of Bo’s Place.
It was a fashionable swell of gorgeous people: Joanna and Brad Marks, Debbie and Mark Gregg, Patrick Chastang, Fady Armanious and Bill Baldwin, Lisa and David Pitts, Allison Lewis, Stacey and Al Lindseth, Jade and David Shine, Sandra and Ryan Staine, Jenny and Todd Abbott, Christina and Matt Altenau, Beth Wolff, Donna and Norman Lewis, Kaitlyn and Michael Scheurich, Travis Torrence and Heath LaPray, Sushma and Haresh Yalamanchili, Christie and Mark Sullivan, Elizabeth and Alan Stein, Ashley and Clark Beecher, Nancy Bihlmaier, Mary and Joe Chastang, Shannon and Richard Kroger, Dana Kantalis and Marsha and Tom Brown.
