Audrey Hepburn’s, Marilyn Monroe’s Glided at the Hollywood Themed Halloween Holly Rose Ribbon Soiree
West University’s hotspot Bar Bleu was transformed into a Hollywood of yesteryear complete with Andy Warhol inspired movie-star signed art pieces, a raving dance floor, neon lights, and glittery angel ghosts hanging from the ceilings. Sponsored by club owners Kellie Letsos and Adam Kliebert, and event planners Lily Paxson and Nancy Marcus Golden, the red carpet event featured 20Houston’s gorgeous Katie Orth.
Emcee Neal Hamil spotted 8 Marilyn’s, 12 Aubrey’s, three Grace Kelly’s, one Trump, a Cher, two Karl Lagerfelds, one Jennifer Lopez, and a Dorothy. DJ Senega’s group played tunes, and noted drag queens performed outrageous acts. The evening orchestrated by Lily Paxson and Nancy Marcus Golden acting as producers and directors included a panel of A list judges — Corbett Parker, movie producer and award winner Madellaine Paxson, fashion icon Aries Milan, fashion designer Jonathan Blake, and TV and movie star Jason Gibson. Ella Markovsky and J Michael Soliz won for best costumes.
The event benefited the Holly Rose Ribbon Foundation. David Fink of BellaVetro gave an amazing 7.5′ x 5′ tile masterpiece of Grace Kelly that went in the live auction and was purchased by Rocky Sembritzky for $6,500.
‘Married to Medicine Houston’s’ cast star Monica Patel came in a stunning blonde wig, excited to see her on and off camera bestie, foundation founder, Cindi Harwood Rose (Jessica Rabbit) and Dr. Franklin Rose (Yul Brenner). Hollie Wells was the ambassador for the Holly Hope award given to Rosemarie Johnson in memory of her mother. There was a never-ending flow of great wine, tequila Mockingbird, champagne, and delicious bites. The totally gorgeous crowd included Nicole Fertitta, John Styles Jr., Azar and Dr. Ahmad Taleghany who donated two hand-made pearl necklaces that went for over $1,000. Chair of the night, Tracy Faulkner, donated a pink fur shawl from her own closet that fetched $1,000! Also in support of the breast cancer and all cancer foundation were Edward Sanchez (who served as auctioneer alongside Nancy Golden), Jennifer Garret, Miya Shay, Gregg Harrison, Michael DeMarse, David A. Cagney, Alan Pike, Tammie Anne Johnson, Anne Marie Vancas, Jaquel Andrews, Lennart Kulke, Megan Mollie, Casey Jordan, and Jurate Kopecky.
The Holly Rose Ribbon Foundation was founded over 10 years ago to give hope to breast cancer survivors by supplying free breast reconstruction, wigs to cancer survivors just children under 10 with Apecia, hospital art in watercolors at Texas Children’s cancer floor for the children with cancer and their siblings and parents, grief counseling, scholarships to young adults at University of Houston (selected by the University) who lost a parent to cancer, support group, and all fees of hospital costs, and nurses, for the 4 time cancer reconstruction. Dr. Franklin Rose and Cindi Rose receive no salary and forfeit income as foundation founders. Dr. Rose performs the surgeries free.
