Margarita Madness draws a fashionable crowd for art!
LCA Houston, along with over 200 guests, had a wonderful evening at the Margarita Madness! Celebrating La Quinceañera event at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft on January 21st. Normally known as “Martini Madness!”, the group changed the name this year to celebrate its 15th anniversary. Known for their beautiful hand-made artisan martini glasses, this year’s event switched to bottomless margaritas glasses and the entire theme was Latin-centric. Event chairs Karina Barbieri, dressed in a stunning dark green Roberto Cavalli dress, and husband Carlos were on hand to launch the party.
Festivities included amazing Latin cuisine provided by Green House Catering. The menu consisted of sword fish ceviche, hand-made tostadas, shredded pork tacos, and chicken empanadas. Guests were treated to an amazing Mexican-themed dessert bar courtesy of Candylicious. And to burn off all the wonderful food and sweets, there was a dance floor powered by live Latin music. The musical group Trio Forte played salsa, cambia, and merengue, and mariachis thrilled the crowd. The margaritas came in frozen, on the rocks, and cocktail varieties provided by Agavales Tequila. All of this was set against the backdrop of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft’s galleries, which were filled with market lights and papel picado (cut paper) garlands hanging from the ceiling. Guests were able to enjoy the festivities and shop at the center’s gift shop that promotes Houston’s modern craft scene. A silent auction, which included a Puerto Vallarta vacation package, a basket full of tequila, a Bulgari handbag, a ceramic sculpture, and a quinceañera gown from Glitter by Alex, helped raise money for the Center.
