Know Autism Lights up your Heart
Amidst all the glitz and glamour at the Know Autism gala on Thursday evening at the Houston Country Club there was mother’s love and a social concern to help families and children with autism.
Light Up Your Heart was the theme for this year’s 2nd Annual Know Autism gala. Founder Tammy Tran Nguyen along with her team put together a fabulous fashion show gala evening raising $162,000 and a sell out audience.
“Being a mother of an autistic son, I understand the struggles of the families who are affected by this disorder,” shares Tammy. “Besides the emotional impact and the daily challenges of raising an autistic child, the financial impact that autism has on the families is paramount,” speaking exclusively to LCA Houston.
As a result this gala was a fabulous affair with plenty of supporters. Every detail was made to perfection by gala chair Anika Jackson with honorary chair Elaine Turner.
The ballroom was transformed into a European wonderland with stunning tablescapes of greenery, glass, and hundreds of candles by décor and event producer Nina Vu Yu and SCF Events. There was also a custom glass runway and backdrop with shimmering candles.
The mission of the organization is to increase autism awareness and help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They believe that together we all can make a difference.
At the gala, models walked the ramp showcasing Miles David Atelier’s 2016 Collection and accessories by Elaine Turner. Also walking the ramp were local celebrities to show their concern for the future of the children.
3.5 million people are living through autism disorders and countless children go untreated, this gala evening was a projection of just how much Houstonians care. Autism affects everyone and when children get affected we all are affected.
Live auction, fashion show and noted dignitaries, the gala certainly was successful in lighting up the hearts in need.
