Local philanthropist hosts ‘Party with a View’

Houston based high end lifestyle real estate company Nan & Co. Properties served as host to dozens of local philanthropists and business men and women at the Party With a View for Nepal Earthquake event, held Thursday, June 25 at the Nan & Co. real estate offices in the BBVA Compass building.

Nancy Almodovar, the event’s host and founder of Nan & Co., brought together entrepreneurs and other business professionals for an evening of networking, refreshments and cosmetic enhancements by facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sanaz Harirchian. Jewelry designer Layla Asgari of Sweet Suri Jewels was also a sponsor who displayed her collection for guests and generously donated proceeds from her sales.

It was just two months ago when a devastating earthquake hit Nepal, killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring 23,000 others. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake is recorded as the worst natural disaster to hit the area in 80 years. The disaster left the region’s infrastructure in shambles and hundreds of thousands of people homeless.

“As a realtor, I know the value of having a place to call home. There is a sanctity and sense of security in being able to go home, and many of the Nepal earthquake victims no longer have that, so I wanted to do something to help them,” says Almodovar.

Nan & Company Properties, is recognized as the industry leader in servicing foreign national clientele, and is the premier destination for all things concerning residential real estate in Houston and The Woodlands. Born out of the idea that foreign nationals can be catered to much more effectively than what was currently offered in Houston, the company has quickly grown to offer multiple services including property management, interior design and tax reduction in addition to many other real estate services. NAN’s specialty is very similar to that of Lights Camera Action, bridging the gap between Houston’s ever-growing ethnic and mainstream communities. “The Asian market in particular is especially important to NAN, and we work hard to use their knowledge of Asian culture to find the ideal matches for our clients,” added Anna Chang, Director of the Asian Division.

The event raised over $3,000, which will go to the Linking the World charitable organization. Linking the World provides humanitarian aid for communities in transition where conflict, disaster, political upheaval or economic collapse has occurred.
