Who influenced you both the most while growing up?
Our parents. They have been our biggest blessings, role models and cheerleaders. They were immigrants who came to this country penniless and worked their way up to becoming the successful and upstanding members of society that they are today. They taught us how to sacrifice for the good of your children and that there is no greater gift than a strong, well-rounded education.
How do you guys balance career, personal life and charity work?
We continuously evaluate what is important to us in our lives and make time for it. We try to list our priorities and solve for how we can give each one the attention it deserves. Staying organized is key but also going back to basics every now and then reminds you of what is truly important and worthy of your time. We have always felt that helping others is a human responsibility and we take it very seriously. We will always find a way to help those in need and it will always be a priority.
You both are a very glamorous couple. What’s in your closet?
Being Indian American lends to the need for a variety of clothes. There is a good mix of Eastern and Western clothes in our closets.
Sippi: Elie Saab, Tom Ford and J. Mendel. Their clothes are effortlessly glamorous and figure-flattering while interweaving a modern twist to a classic design. On a local level, I am a big fan of David Peck USA and Dao by Chloe Dao. David and Chloe make your clothes fit to perfection.
Ajay: Ermenegildo Zegna and Tom Ford. Classic lines and fits makes these designers’ clothes comfortable yet fashion forward.
Would you like you share a compliment that you both got and brought smiles to your faces?
We were recently told that we we will be honored at the 2nd Annual Operation Smile Gala in Houston on May 8, 2015. We have been humbled by the work this charity does in fixing cleft palates for children around the world. The fact that this organization gives radiant smiles to these beautiful children makes us smile in return.
What do you both love about Houston, any favorite hang-out places?
Houston is home. It is a vibrant city with the most diverse population. It is the perfect city to raise a family. Houstonians have the biggest hearts and are always ready to help those in need. We love to hang out in the Museum District to take in the delights at MFAH and Children’s Museum. Being parents of a five year old boy, we make frequent trips to The Houston Zoo, Discovery Green, Houston Rockets and Texans games. We also love the Houston Symphony.
