Latin Women Membership Luncheon with Fall fashion show
Latin Women’s Initiative (LWI) held its annual membership drive and community grant presentation luncheon on Friday, October 3 at the Junior League. Six local charities received a total of $90,000 in grants from LWI, the largest amount LWI has ever awarded to its selected charities.
Before lunch, the over 175 attendees of the event were treated to a fabulous trends presentation and fashion show, presented by Saks Fifth Avenue. Christian Dior makeup artists were on hand providing make up touch ups. Dior also donated a $500 gift basket of their products, awarded to a lucky attendee.
Charities receiving grants from LWI include: The Rose, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM), Casa de Esperanza, LIFE Houston and Kids’ Meals. Representatives from each organization met current and new LWI members, and received grant checks from outgoing LWI president, Rosi Hernandez and Community Service Chairs, Sally Lechin and Marianelly Noble.
LWI currently maintains over 150 members and continues to grow each year. Individual memberships begin at $50, and allow access to exclusive special events, volunteer opportunities, and priority access for one of the most anticipated social events of the year, the annual LWI Fashion Show and Luncheon.
LWI new Board members include Veronica Chapa, Marlyn Greiner, Mimi Blum, Chree Boydstun, Rosanna Moreno, Gloria Luna, Angela Platsas, Susie Molina, Cynthia Colbert, Marisa Lopez, Daisy Mendoza, Michele Leal, Lisa Uresti and Karina Barbieri.
