Beauty with Lots of Brains and Talent! Miss Chinatown 2014 – Blast of Talented Youth
It must have been a very tough decision for the judges at the Chinese American Citizens Alliance Houston Lodge, 44th Annual Miss Chinatown Houston Scholarship Pageant. It was a packed audience at the JW Marriot on July 26, 2014 with a host of very talented young ladies who clearly justify the term ‘Beauty With Brains’.
Event Chair, Linda Wu and Co-Chair Betty Gee, as well as Pageant Director Tammy Su and Co-Director Kitty So, did a fabulous job to put together a fabulous and flawless show. I was proud to be seated with the Jade Sponsors for the event Connie Kwan Wong and Judy Yan, who were also celebrating Cindi Rose’s birthday.
The very perky Lily Jang, KHOU News – This Morning Anchor along with John Newinn aka “Jonny Elvis” served as the emcees for the evening introducing the 10 gorgeous contestants for the 2014 Miss Chinatown. Each of them walked the ramp with style, poise and sophistication displaying great talent with excellent dialogue. However, one had to be crowned Miss Chinatown 2014 and that was Rose Li Pageant #9. She most certainly had a huge fan following in the ballroom and was also our table’s favorite.
The contestants were judged for their fitness (swimsuit round), talent, personality and intellect. Judges were KHOU 11 anchor Sherm-min Chow, Dance Houston founder Andrea Cody, Satsun Corporation president Randy Sim, Violin Virtuoso Tom Ye and Houston Chronicle’s Joy Sewing. Supporting the event with great style were: William and Mandy Kao, Tiffany T. Zhang, Rose Chen, Gabriela Dror, Peta-gay Chen Ledbetter, Corla Young, Diane Nguyen, Victoria Ai Linh, Cindy Chan, and many others.
