Semplice Eleganza | A Runway Suspended at a River Oaks Residence in Houston
Chin up, Chest out! Twenty Page Parkes models walked in Jonathan Blake Spring/Summer 2014 Semplice Eleganza Collection (meaning ‘simple and elegant’) into public view for the first time as they sauntered across a runway erected over a swimming pool.
The special event took place at the residence of Larry and Deana Blackburn in the River Oaks suburb of Houston, a mastermind of Jonathan Tinkle, founder and chief creative director of Jonathan Blake LLC. Tinkle, a Houston native, a fashion designer who launched his first collection in October 2013 at the age of 21.
The new Jonathan Blake Spring/Summer Collection included more than 60 pieces, that appeared on the runway last week in the form of 40 distinct looks in ‘cool, calm pastel colors‘. The color palette featured whites and creams, peach, mint green and various shades of blue, with French blue being the dominant color in this collection. Styles in this collection are soft, feminine and functional.
In addition to expanding his use of the exotic skins that he debuted in some of the designs of his current Fall/Winter collection, Tinkle will continue his use of silk and add silk faille. He has also introduced butterfly-inspired prints into this collection. Prices for pieces in this collection range from $500 to $16,000 with many of the pieces priced at or below $2,000.
Inspired by Chanel, Valentino and Versace, Jonathan Blake’s designs are timelessly wearable, classic, and elegant for women of all ages and varying sizes. All of Jonathan Blake’s pieces are made of natural fabrics, leathers and exotic skins. Tinkle begins the creative process through pencil sketches, which transform into high quality day and evening wear with the help of talented Houston-based pattern makers and seamstresses.
As usual, Sharron Melton, KTRK-TV/ABC 13 morning news anchor, did an amazing job as the emcee for the event.
The show was very well received by an elite 200 plus group of Houstonians who were seated poolside for the 30-minute show. The Vanity Lounge (for makeup), Sakowitz Furs, Valobra Jewelry and Gabriela Dror Hats and Fascinators provided a special sparkle for the show.
