Society with Ruchi at New York Fashion Week
NEW YORK: It was my first time at the much hyped Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week and to be honest it truly deserves to be. I was in absolute fashion heaven among many paparazzi. This eight day event started on September 5 at the Lincoln Center in New York and goes on till September 12th. New York which is already a hot spot for tourism, while the fashion week is just the icing on the cake. It is quite a glamorous scene to spot celebs (sometimes) but mostly models and fashionistas posing outside the Lincoln Center during the Fashion week during which hundreds of photographers and fashion bloggers rush out to capture the latest trends.
Highlights of Lights Camera Action at the fashion scene:
As a first timer I soaked in the people watching at the lobby of the Lincoln Center where there was plenty of lifestyle magazines, Mercedes cars, water, alcoholic beverages, hair stylists, ice-cream samples, and photo booths available for entertainment while waiting for the shows – The BCBGMAXAZRIA, MONIQUE LHUILLIER, Nicole Miller and Nautica Men’s Spring Collections.
While most reporters and journalists were solely dedicated to covering the big shows I was on the look out to meet some popular fashion bloggers and international designers to experience and learn what else was going around. I had the privilege to meet Fashion Blogger, stylist, and creative director Kelly Framel of The Glamourai, a luxurious destination for fashionable inspirations. She was the Fashion Blogger who had hosted a champagne evening for Karen Millen London.
I also ventured to the Couture Fashion Week that hosts new upcoming designers with great talent, who might not have a hefty budget for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week but who got the perfect platform to showcase their talent and make new contacts. The show hosted many international talents like Sushma Patel, Houston based Designer Danny Nguyen, Germany based Denise Whyle, Helen Bender, and Hats By Anastasia.
In a nut shell, Lights Camera Action highly recommends fashionistas to attend New York Fashion Week and this Fall let’s get lots of head pieces, shades of grey, tutu style maxi skirts, and of course form fitted dresses are always sexy!
