Lets Fashionably Fall in Love with Fall!
As the Editor/Founder of Lights Camera Action Houston Society News I am delighted to cover the NY Fashion Week. Our focus will be on the international flavor and the Texas connection at the NY Fashion Week, and I am personally looking forward to soak in the fashion forward city, mix and mingle with many renowned fashion bloggers like TheGlamourai, models, fashionistas and many upcoming designers. To me fashion is like art, I truly enjoy every aspect of fashion and style. The mixing and matching, looking for deals, color pops, matching a basic outfit with an Alexander McQueen clutch. I believe in quality over quantity.
Over the years covering many social events, as a society columnist and TV Anchor, I have learned the various dos and don’ts, and we are blessed to be in such a talented city with very creative make-up artists, hair stylists and some haute designers. While I get ready for the Big Apple it is my pleasure to write about some of my favorites.
Life seems to come to a standstill for me without the assistance of Hair Stylist: Rosie Arizpe, Owner of Georgette’s Beauty Salon, a very talented hair artist, originally from Los Angeles now based in Houston, Texas. Rosie’s expertise is working with many models, runway shows and media personalities. She is super fast and super magical. Contact Rosie at 6199 Griggs St. Suite B, Houston, Texas 77023, (713) 242-6526.
Tucked in the busy Galleria neighborhood, Roi Alan‘s talent is not unknown. He has worked with models for Fashion Houston, very talented yet extremely humble, Alan knows hair. Roi has been trained at the Aveda Institute and specializes in cuts, color application, and Brazilian treatments. For more info visit roialan.com.
One can get very picky when it comes to makeup artists, and that is why I suggest stick with the best. My top two favorites: June B. Xu for Christian Dior. Born to an artist family in China, June began her makeup artistry career behind the Christian Dior counter as a counter manager. Throughout her years working in the cosmetic industry, she always seeks out means to take advanced make-up classes to improve her skills. She is now working for Christian Dior as the Beauty Director for Dior at Dillard’s in Houston, and works with a variety of clients working make-up for everything from fashion to bridal beauty photo shoots. What I love about getting make-up done from Dior is they focus on skin care and that is very important.
My other favorite Yubi Escalona Rodriguez, a makeup artist at Alira Boutique Spa & Salon on W. Alabama Houston, 77006. She is the lead make-up artist at the spa, Yubi has magical powers to give the perfect makeover with a soft, subtle yet dramatic look. “I use the Jentry Kelley line of cosmetics which is composed of all sorts of cosmetic surgery techniques leaving you looking as if you had a brow lift,” says Yubi.
Well now that we know where to make your appointments for the perfect look, here is a video interview with one of my favorite Houston Designers David Peck at a birthday soiree. Peck chats about his inspiration, Fall fashion trends and more.
