Asian American Family Services Gears Up for the 14th Annual Golden Ball Gala
A glitzy glamorous evening was hosted to kick-off the Asian American Family Services (AAFS) 14th Annual Golden Ball Gala at Hotel ZaZa last week. The gala will be held on September 12, 2013 at the Hotel ZaZa promising to be a memorable evening. “An evening not to be missed,” says Viet Hoang, AAFS Gala Chair.
The gala is anticipating a fun, memorable and meaningful evening while they celebrate the spirit of giving by honoring distinguished individuals and recognize the contribution of the 2013 Luminary Ambassadors. The Luminary Ambassadors is a similar concept inspired by the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year campaign where the organization nominates candidates who help raise funds for the organization.
AAFS is a unique non-profit community-based mental health and social service agency that helps provide intervention and prevention oriented services in more than ten Asian languages. Programs and services include counseling and support services for those fleeing from the terror of domestic abuse, and for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder due to loss of home and country. The organization serves Houston’s newest immigrants like the Asians and Houston’s Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Thai, Burmese, Japanese, Bhutanese and others. The organization tries to help families in crisis, refugees, children and adults isolated by poverty and language.
I personally had the opportunity to speak to some of this years Luminary Ambassadors who are smart, intelligent, young with very impressive personalities who believe in philanthropy. The charming hot ladies competing for the award are:

Amongst the gentlemen, Houston’s favorite John Bradshaw Jr, Acting Executive Director, Asia Society Texas Center and Munir Shivji, Executive Director, The Institute of Montessori Education.
These 2013 fabulous ambassadors are working very hard hosting fun events, to help raise awareness about the importance of mental health – Total Health – Body & Mind in their communities.
