Fashionista of the Month | Sneha Merchant
There is absolutely no surprise that Sneha Merchant has been spotted as Lights Camera action’s Fashionista of the Month as guests spotted Mrs Merchant in a stunning bright lime BCBG MAXAZARIA long dress for her 30th Birthday bash. This is not the first time this very chic lady has looked stunning. A mother of a three year old son, Sneha strives to give back to the community, a loving wife and most popular as a fashionable gal who most certainly makes 30 look like the new 20.
Spotted many times dressed like a runway model, it was about time we listed Sneha Merchant as our very favorite Fashionista with a great sense of style, poise and charisma. She has been involved in many charities including Asian Pacific American Heritage Association (APAHA), Asian American Family Services (AAFS) and at her recent birthday soiree she requested her friends and family to support Fidai Girls Educational Institute, a Mumbai and Panchgani, India based organization that aims to enable children to recover and maintain their dignity as benefiting their status as God’s greatest creation. Fidai seeks assistance to the institutions, not charity to the children.
As we settle down with a glass of champagne with this Diva with a beautiful heart it was heart warming to hear how she fondly remembers her mother Mumtaz Amirali Kotadia, who was her biggest inspiration. “Yes I love Chanel, Prada you name it, but my Mom has meant everything to me when it comes to style. My Mom’s style was simple and elegant, her favorite was Ritu Kumar. She might not be amongst us anymore but she is my biggest inspiration,” recollects the doe eyed Sneha with a secret tear.
Tell us about your favorite designers and what inspires you about them?
Chanel is my absolute favorite and that is because Coco Chanel was a brilliant lady. She redefined femininity and proved women could do whatever they wanted. Coco had an elegant yet edgy style.
What’s in your closet? Your collection that you are proud about?
My Satya Paul sari collection and my gorgeous Tarun Talhinani wedding outfit are my absolute proudest possessions and all of my handbags and shoes, sorry I can’t pick a favorite (chuckles Sneha). I like the shopping experience and most of them have a story or have been a gift from my loving husband.
What’s your style statement?
Elegant yet edgy, I like the oomph factor in my wardrobe, a bright pink Chanel bag, my yellow Bottega clutch or it simply could be a red sole (she winks).
You would not step out without?
My handbag and perfume. It’s my second skin.
