Damian’s Cucina Italiana Completes 30 years
Damian’s Cucina Italiana, located in Midtown Houston, oozes old-world charms and their new menu items ensures old-world tastes to match! Lights Camera Action was recently invited to sample Damian’s new menu selections and we were not disappointed.
Our four course dinner started with a very fresh and balanced Insalata Mona Lisa consisting of mixed lettuces, tomatoes, sweet roasted almonds, and feta cheese, all topped with a creamy balsamic dressing. This was one of the best salads I’ve had in a while and a perfect start to the meal.
The second course was Sweet Potato Ravioli with sage butter sauce. This was an unexpected surprise before the entrée. Not overly sweet, it acted as a great pallet cleanser before the main course.
The stars of the show were a choice of Veal Marsala, veal sautéed in Marsala wine with mushrooms and proscuitto served with fresh green beans, and Branzino Azzurro, grilled herb dusted sea bass topped with white wine buerre blanc served over cannelloni carrettieri and sautéed spinach. We went with the veal because, well it’s veal! Having said that, we couldn’t help admire the Branzino on other people’s plates. Both plates were good portion sizes and the veal was tender and delicious.
Rounding out the night was a very large and decadent Tiramisu. So large, that we couldn’t finish it! Sweetened rum flavored mascarpone, chocolate, and espresso flavored ladyfingers helped us forget all about Branzino, and we ended the night very satisfied and looking forward to our next visit to this charming restaurant.
