Happy New Year To All My Social Butterflies!

Yes, a late new year wish from Society With Ruchi, as I was extremely busy covering the Big Fat Indian Wedding in Htown. An extravagant three day long Indian wedding that witnessed an elephant, a palace, and the Mayor of Houston, was the spotlight of 2012 and most certainly the wedding of the year. It was the wedding of prominent Indian American Jugal and Raj Malani‘s daughter.

Everyone’s eye was on who wore what. Rituals started with henna/sangeet with Bollywood style dancing, followed by a rituals and a grand reception where guests were adorned with silk saris and crystal studded outfits. Many guests including Jugal and Raj were spotted in designers like Sabyasachi and and Manish Malhotra. Of course always looking ravishing was the high profile couple Nidhika and Pershant Mehta in Sabyasachi. Some local designers also stole the limelight. ABC 13 Anchor Sharron Melton and I opted for Sameera Faridi‘s Poshak Fashion and Style and were proudly known as the ‘Poshak Hotties’.

Meanwhile Jacquie Baly hosted her First Annual Baly Brunch on the first week of new year with ladies only, over champagne and mini food bites and plenty of laughs. Ladies greeted each other, some made new friends and many exchanged business cards. Baly’s resolution is to stay connected with her friends after a busy and eventful 2012. The main purpose of this fun party was for her friends to meet new ones and help each other in their business. Jacquie looked lovely in a white brocade dress amongst her other fashionista friends like Mandy Kao, Julia Mickum, Cindy Cheng, Rachel Novoa, Teresa Cox Reading, Angela McGlaun Pfeiffer, Charlene Jordan Rogers, Geraldine Whitt, and many others.

The party was a sure hit and already a favorite amongst the wonderful Women of Fort Bend and Harris Counties Celebrating 2013 with door prizes, champagne and networking opportunities.
