Indo American Chamber of Commerce Gala

Over the years the Indian American community here in Houston, Texas has proved its excellence in various areas whether art, culture, film, business or entrepreneurship. The Indo American Chamber of Commerce has a lot to do with that growth and once again, now for the 13th time, the Chamber celebrated its Annual Gala amongst influential Indian Americans, philanthropists, businesses and political leaders.

A decent crowd gathered for the 13th Annual Indo American Chamber of Commerce Gala themed ‘United in Excellence’ on Saturday August 25, 2012 at the Hilton Americas Hotel, Downtown Houston. Guests gathered to support the Chamber’s programs to enhance local business and strengthen economic ties between US – India. Attendees were thrilled to welcome the new Consul General of India in Houston Hon. P. Harish and guest of honor Ambassador Arun K. Singh.

Among dignitaries on hand were Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett with wife Gwen who looked stunning in a red lehenga choli, Sugar Land City Council members Harish Jajoo, Thomas Abraham, University of Houston President Dr. Renu Khator and Suresh Khator. The keynote speaker of the evening was Jim Compton, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of United Airlines.

A glamorous smooth flowing evening with the very articulate emcee, Fort Bend Independent School District President, Sonal Bhuchar and a performance by Pandit Suman Ghosh added a cultural charm to the gala. Gala Co-Chairs Bashar and Brigitte Kalai and Executive Director of IACCGH, Jagdip Ahluwalia took leadership to ensure the evening be a grand success. The incoming President of the Chamber Pankaj Dhume, presented a inspiring speech to the audience.

Overall a successful gala with the movers of shakers of H-town. Spotted at the gala: Asha Dhume, Ajit and Deepa Thakur, Pradeep Anand, Mona Parikh, Gaurav and Seema Khandelwal, Ashok Mago, Subodh Bhuchur, Sanjay Ram, Miya Shay and Gene Wu, Sonia Azad, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Raj and Jugal Malani, and others.

Lights Camera Action’s Best Dressed Glamorous Diva for the Chamber Gala Event was most certainly Dr. Renu Khator who looked ravishing in a light green sari with silver work, what set the outfit apart was her sexy gold string blouse. Only a brilliant confident lady could carry it so well with sophistication.
