Rendezvous with Wine and Food
It was heavenly for foodies and wine connoisseurs at the Woodland Waterway Marriott Hotel on Saturday for the royal, regal celebration of the Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting and Chef Showcase.
This event is one of its kind, tabbed as one of the most spectacular wine and culinary events in the country, the ‘Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase,’ presents the opportunity to dress finely and schmooze in the company of serious wine enthusiasts and outstanding culinary talent providing the ultimate experience of elegance and charm. Rendezvous’ers got an opportunity to bid on a Napa Valley trip for two with behind the scenes visits with winemakers, private in-home culinary sessions, in-home private wine tastings and much more.
Fashionably dressed guests were greeted upon arrival with the newly introduced Champagne Gazebo offering an array of sparkling selections to start the experience and the joy of tasting more than 500 wines. It was quite a sight to observe serious Chefs as they competed for the judges vote for the prestigious Waterford Crystal Chef of Chefs Award, and watch the battle of renowned pastry Chefs for the ‘Just Desserts’ Award.
Some of the creative chefs presenting their delicacies were Chef Philippe Schmit, Tyler Stone, Elizabeth Stone, Roland Soza from Bistro Alex, Eric McClanahan from 1252 Tapas Bar, amongst many others. The mouth watering dishes lingering in the minds were: Chef Philippe’s Duck Confit with Couscous, Chef Tyler’s Yellowfin Tuna Tartare and Champagne Sorbet, Lobster Ravioli, a wide display of various kinds of cheese, sauces and dips by HEB.
The dessert display was beyond temptation. Folks flocked around the sweet stalls trying mini cup cakes, raspberry and chocolate mousse and many different kinds of macaroons. Overall a splendid experience leaving attendees in a food coma.
