Rodeo Fashion, Spring Collection & Indo-Pak Celebrations
Society with Ruchi
With Spring comes along a host of new fashion styles and thanks to all the fashion shows around H-town temptation is always at our heels. Last week Roz Pactor of ‘The Chic Sheet’ fame and Stacey Swift hosted the Spring Preview Party Fashion Runway Show and Trend Presentation on Level II Neiman Marcus, Galleria. The event was a treat to the eyes for the ladies as they enjoyed champagne and a check list for their new spring wardrobe.
Roz and Stacey took turns to talk about their Spring faves from what they recently saw on the New York Fashion Week runway. This season we South Asians can have a blast with all the bright vibrant colors. They named one of the outfits ‘The Bollywood Collection‘ as the model walked in a hot pink form-fitted knee length dress with a blue cardigan. Talk about bright colors, even Prada’s 2012 Spring Collection is called the Madras Collection as the clutches represent the colors of the sari like rust and pink.
Yellow was predominating the show but leaving plenty of room for creativity. Think bright and mix and match. Polka dots, pale pink, and greys are all in. Don’t forget to invest in a fascinator as this season hats are out, fascinators are in. Thanks to the royal wedding.
Meanwhile, Tootsies on Saturday morning was busy with fashion enthusiasts who started early, sipping mimosas and enjoying a spectacular show. Models showcased more spring fashion trends and Rodeo Fashion. Our very own Tanaz Choudhry stole the limelight as gorgeous models walked the ramp in MABYUSA. Her collection would definitely be a favorite amongst Rodeo fashionistas as the jeans exhibit intricate designs, with all the embroidery work from India. This event was specially hosted for the International Houston Rodeo Committee.
Tanaz Choudhry was very proud to showcase her collection along with designers like Oscar de la Renta and other noted designers.
All’s well that ends well! The weekend ended on a very happy note, not just with a beautiful sunny day but Indians celebrated Holi, the festival of color, with more than 10,000 people. The event was hosted by none other than Sunil Thakkar of Masala Radio Houston. While Indians got drenched in different shades of ‘gulal’ (colored powder), Pakistanis celebrated Basant (Spring) Festival at George Bush Park with their very own diva Deejay Samia. The event was hosted by Pakistan-American Council of Texas for a full day of fun, live music, kite flying and a good reason to just make new friends.
Hello Spring and Happy Holi!
