While growing up in India surrounded with Bollywood cinema, it is often believed to just be a fantasy world. But let me clarify… the lavish and larger than life Bollywood sets are not just in the reel world. It really does exist. This revelation came when guests were welcomed at the Parikh Residence on Saturday evening to celebrate Diwali with members of the Club 24.
Situated in the Sugarland area, this beautiful home is where Mona Parikh along with her brother Dakshesh Parikh reside as a happy joint family. It was not just the vastness of the property that was amazing, but what set it apart was the beautifully decorated home for Diwali and the warmth of the hosts. Mona is a good friend of the community participating in various charities and also serves as the President of the Indo American Chamber of Commerce. “It is so wonderful to see the Houston community coming together, dressed in festive attire, to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights,” says Mona.
Club 24 is an Indo-American organization in Houston, which fosters a tradition of building bridges with mainstream organizations in Houston as well as participating with major organizations to develop programs of need and significance to the Indo-American community in Houston.
The evening was colorful like a Bollywood movie with as many as 200 guests, including members of Club 24, community VIP’s, and members of other community organizations gathered to celebrate the festival of lights.
The theme for this evening was an evening of illumination with a very festive lit up home with diyas and candles. Guests were welcomed at the gate from where a golf cart drove them to the entrance. A fancy affair taken to the next level by J&D Entertainment Company that provided fire dancers performing at the enormous poolside ‘backyard’, which was everyone’s favorite. The cool breeze and the quaint walk down overlooking the lake added a romantic appeal to the houseful event.
The evening spotted Raj and Jugal Malani, Ash and Leena Shah, Harish Jajoo, Jay Guerrero, Sanjay Ram, Rachna Patel, Aku Patel, Atul and Gauri Vardhacharya, Sonal Bhuchar, Atul Vir, Sushma Bhan, Ricki Oberoi, Nidhika and Prashant Mehta, Madhukar Prasad and an endless list of dignitaries and movers and shakers from the community.
