Fall Fashion Trends

Melissa Chou aka ‘issa is a Houstonian who in her spare time runs a local fashion/personal style blog along with an online vintage boutique. She also recently started up a creative studio, specializing in photography, cinematography, and graphic design.

Summer may still be in full bloom, but it’s never too early to start getting your closet ready for the fall. Luckily for our wallets a lot of what’s been hot this spring/summer season is continuing into winter. Which also means you should go out and take advantage of the sale season!

First up are bold and bright colors. From maxi skirts, pants, tops and jackets, these items will be blending into fall with added layers for texture and warmth. In addition to the bold colors, cobalt blue is an especially color hot color to have this fall.

The midi (mid calf) and maxi lengths in both skirts and dresses are still going strong this fall, with an additional high slit for sexiness. From metallics to prints, and flowy to tailored, you should be able to find the right look for you this season.

Leather continues to be hot each season and this fall is no exception. Especially hot will be leather dresses, skirts and shorts. Be sure to mix it up with a casual top with those leather bottoms. Keeping you warm and fashionable at the same time.

The usual suspects – plaid and tailored tuxedos. Plaid returns each fall having that very nostalgic feel. This year’s twist? Big check prints in bolder colors than usual. Fall tends to bring tailored menswear for women, this year’s twist? The menswear got a bit more formal, as in tailored tuxedos. Black and white is looking hot.

A Surprising trend? Duster coats are making a comeback this fall. You’ll look especially fancy in this coat, with a retro feel, you’ll exude importance.

Easiest trend to obtain. Skinny belts are hitting it big this fall, as opposed to all those super wide waist cincher belts from the past several years. Looking totally cute belting a dress, sweater, or pants.
