Summer is getting HAUTE! WOW’s Sizzling Summer Soiree
Society with Ruchi
This summer is sizzling HOT! And I do not mean just the temperatures. All summer long Houston has been host to some pretty amazing fun filled sassy chic summer soirees.
More than 300 hundred fashionably dressed (mostly ladies) flocked to Tootsie Land on August 17, 2011 to support WOW. Women of Wardrobe (WOW) is a group of young professional women who strive to support Dress For Success Houston while hosting fundraiser events and other volunteer activities. Wednesday’s fashion event was one of WOW’s successful attempts.
The event was like a fairy tale come true for fashionistas as they sipped slimRITAS, munched mini cupcakes and browsed through the designs of emerging designers Shririn Askari and David Peck. Guests also had the privilege to pose with Whitney Port.
Fall fashion was high priority at the event as designer Shirin Askari displayed her classic black dresses with a burst of bright color via flowers or ruffles. David Peck was inclined towards bright colors like reds and rusts with the 70s bow-tie long sleeve look. “This fall is going to be so much fun with mid-length dresses, retro influences and playing around with long flowy sleeves,” says Peck.
Fashion was at full swing even off the runway at this WOW event. White dresses with gold chain belts, sparkling Louis Bouton shoes, clutches, and lots of dresses. Rebecca Spera of Mirror Mirror was spotted working in a striking emerald green blouse with bright blue head band. Society Columnist Shelby Hodge looked classy as always in her black tunic with white embroidery. Houston Chronicle fashion writer Joy Sewing looked lovely in a one shoulder bright orange dress. Amongst the fashionistas spotted at the soiree Lauren Pray, Shiva Rafferty, Roslyn Bazzelle, Miya Shay, Roz Pactor, Mia Gradney, Divya Paralkar Brown, and many other philanthropists, models, and socialities.
Meanwhile Thursday nights are getting sexy and fun with ‘COHESION’ at Americas on River Oaks. Each Thursday, Americas is stirring up some great late night delights with themes related to the arts, fashion, culture and philanthropy. Make sure to swing by River Oaks Americas on Thursdays 9:30pm-1:30am.
