Memorial Day Sales, Fashion Tips & a Fun Weekend Ahead!
Society with Ruchi
It was a low profile weekend with lots of shopping and sales screaming out of the store windows. We all know that these sales will be back, but somehow it is quite impossible for us ladies to ignore the big Memorial Day weekend sales. Macy’s usual luring discounts had kept many glued to the malls. Those who could not hit the mall do not be disappointed, the sale is on-going with 25% discounts with additional 15% savings. What caught my attention? Michael Kors navy blue shorts paired with white linen Charter club three quarter embroidered tunic top. Then over to DSW shoe warehouse for a pair of wedges. My pick, beige wedges that make your legs look longer and leaner. This summer invest in a long black or any solid color maxi dress and accessorize it with belts and sometimes with chunky necklaces from India, along with a sophisticated hat that will not only protect from the sun but a great cover up for a bad hair day. Again Macy’s had some great bargains on those hats. Jessica Simpson Hat, large bow floppy was on sale for just $27. To stand out with your solid maxi dress also try collection XIIX hat with bold striped metallic floppy. I would wear large gold or copper earrings. For some guidelines: Cache has some great accessories, matt gold rings, and chains necklace at $58 was a steal.
Council member Jacquie Chaumette spent Monday morning attending the City of Sugar Land’s 3rd annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Sugar Land Memorial Park. She described the ceremony to be quite moving and a wonderful tribute to our U.S Armed Forces who have sacrificed so much for the country. Chaumette said the program included a presentation of colors from one of the local high schools and essay readings from elementary students. Attendees enjoyed words of remembrance from local veterans and chorus and patriotic musical selections. “I am touched by the event and want to express my gratitude to the residents of Sugar Land for paying homage to our veterans,” says Chaumette.
Well now that we are done with our haute summer and memorial day shopping it is time to get ready for some serious partying! The Italian Expo is coming to Houston town this weekend. A tour of Italy without even leaving the city. Indulge your passion for fashion at the Italian Fashion Exchange! Emerging Texas designers compete before an esteemed panel of judges, who are renowned Houston fashion designers like Chloe Dao and David Peck, Houston Magazine’s Editor-In-Chief Jeff Gremillion, Fashion Group International’s Regional Director Josephine Firat, and Tootsies’ Buyer Jennifer Cunningham.
