Blooming Spring Fashion & Philippe Grand Opening: Royalty all the Way!
Society with Ruchi
Rain or shine Houston party goers need not slow down. Thursday May 12, 2011 in spite of early evening heavy showers, fashionistas, philanthropists and socialites gathered for the final push to Miriam Habib’s Man & Woman of the Year Campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The party was hosted at the Porsche of West Houston near Katy Freeway amidst an atmosphere of a garden with a touch of royalty. The event was aptly called ‘Bloom Into Action’. Lexis florist Miriam Habib did justice to the theme with her ever glowing self and emerald green one shoulder dress. “It is all for a good cause. Yes the title sounds fun but for me it is not about winning but raising awareness and funds for a cancer cure,” said Miriam.
Local superheroes joined forces to raise funds for a cure while also showcasing some of the latest fashion trends. Celebrity models included Edward Sanchez (Makeup Artist/Eyebrow Guru), Michael Chabala (Houston Dynamo), Hasti Taghi (KPRC, Channel 2), Jessica DeBate (The Buzz), among others to parade the runway in some of the hottest looks for the spring.
Emcees for the event Councilman Corbett Daniel Parker and Reporter Sonia Azad (ABC 13) kept the night going with their witty jokes and at the same time made the guest aware of the charity for which the evening was hosted.
The evening was screaming royalty as the models walked the ramp in the classic hats, umbrellas and vintage fascinators. Overall an evening not to have been missed, pumped full of energy from the live beats produced by Houston’s hottest DJ, Lewis Grell of LG Entertainment and Don Vaughn on the drums. Special ‘Bloom-tini’s’, scotch tasting by Chivas, delicious wine, brownies and ice cream station and hors d’ouvres from Fadi’s spiced up the evening.
Sunday was definitely a fun-day with another royalty inspiring event. It was the formal grand opening fete of Philippe Restaurant and Lounge on Post Oak on Sunday May 14, 2011 as the crème de la crème of Houston gathered late afternoon in cowboy chic.
It was a party not to be missed but one had to be on the list to mix and mingle in cowboy boots and Channel with Carolyn Farb, Recipe for Success founder Gracie Cavnar, Debra Grierson, Kara Kinder Howes, Chef Bryan Caswell, George Lancaster, former Continental CEO Gordon Bethune and Jessica Rossman, also Houston Chronicle editor Greg Morago, Delicious Mischief host John Demers and Houston Modern Luxury’s Jody Schmal. Also spotted all over the map the society columnist Shelby Hodge along with architect husband Shafik, fashion and style guru Clifford Pugh, Miya Shay, Kim Padgett, Studio Communications Stuart Rosenberg amongst the other 600 guests in attendance throughout the day.
With tantalizing food bites and wines from across the world, Chef Philippe knows how to tease his guests leaving them begging for more. No immediate plans for another event on that scale, however Philippe has been considering something tied to Bastille Day in the summer.
