Art Meets Fashion To Support Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Royal Oaks peeps were all in the spring fashion mood as art connoisseurs and desi fashionistas gathered in large numbers to support ‘Art Meets Fashion’ a charity cocktail reception for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society 2011 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign.
The event took place at the lavish home of Simran and Pradeep Rihal on Friday April 15, 2011. The doctor and fashion designer duo opened their home for a good cause along with contemporary artist Marcus Mann who displayed his artwork.
In between the socializing and nibbling chicken tikka kabas ABC/13 reporter Sonia Azad congratulated the crowd for supporting local Lights Camera Action/TV Asia Journalist Ruchi Mukherjee, who has been nominated for the 2011 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Each year, in communities across the country, dynamic, passionate candidates engage in a spirited ten-week fundraising competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s ‘Man & Woman of the Year’ titles, by raising funds and awareness for blood cancer research. The South Asian community at large is very proud of the nomination of Indian born Ruchi Mukherjee. She has been hosting Bollywood/fashion themed events to raise awareness and funds and calls her team ‘Team Unity Bollywood Style’.

Simran who is a fashion designer popular with her brand ELAN (means to declare) was in news recently as her collection was hosted at Lot 8 by Project Runway winner Chloe Dao. She also had her evening clutches on display.
It was a perfect outdoor evening with light breeze, cocktails at the patio, a lovely sunset and Mann’s talent. What better way to enjoy a Friday evening!
It might have been a house charity party but that did not deprive it from having biggies like council member of Sugarland Jacquie Baly Chaumette, City Councilman at City of Bellaire, Corbett Parker, LLS 2010 Woman of the Year Carol Young, Ash Shah, Sonia Azad, Sam and Omana Abraham, Reji and Roy Joseph and many other significant Houstonians. A sophisticated evening with artists, designers and philanthropists.
