The weather has started to warm up and so has the desi party scene. Sometimes for the sake of charity and sometimes to just let the good times roll. Raj and Ankit Patel hosted a sophisticated yet intimate party at their lavish Sugarland home on Friday February 18, 2011. There was no significant reason for the celebration but the idea was to get together and have a good time. The hosts entertained some 100 plus guests, providing a very romantic surrounding with large panels of candles. DJ Chani kept the guests dancing all night long with cocktails and dinner catered by Mint Spice Bistro. Finally the big question on everyone’s mind… who wore what? The dress code was comfort and anything fabulous. Indian divas did a great job experimenting with spring colors with a hint of nightly affairs. Raj was spotted in a blue dress, while Anjali Arora did justice to the evening as she sparkled in her sequined dress showing off her fabulous legs. Mona Dugal Faulkner stood out in her maxi dress. Reds, black tube dresses and one shoulder frocks all made it to the list. Caught dancing to the tunes of ‘Shela Ki Jawani’ was the successful young couple Tanya and Rick Pal while Latika and Gopal Bathija danced to some softer notes. Others joining the dance floor were Monica Garcia Clancy and Jay Clancy, Jay and Neerja Ayier, Simran and Pradeep Rihal and other party animals. Overall just like their house number 10, the guests rated the party a ten!

Down at Safari Texas on Saturday, The Lamar Educational Awards Foundation hosted their 10th Anniversary Annual fundraising event, ‘Men Who Cook’. This event continues the tradition of enjoying tantalizing dishes prepared by “celebrity” chefs in a cocktail setting. Billie Ledbetter once again headlined this year’s entertainment, with Jeff Council auctioning off a wonderful array of items. Texas Radio Hall-of-Fame Rowdy Yates once again served as master of ceremonies. Spotted on the scene was Council Member of City of Sugarland Jacquie Baly Chaumette who is a very good friend of the South Asian community.
Sugarland, Texas sure made some more noise when DJ Girl and Radio Host Samia Adil gathered her beautiful girlfriends for a late afternoon of champagne and kebabs. A causal afternoon house party turned out to be a fashion soiree as guests arrived in fashionable outfits, Gucci, Chanel and Valentino being their favorite companions. A purple churridar from Pakistan and BCBG maxi dress screamed spring 2011 and made it to the hot list. Hostess Samia was the perfect host in her 6 inch striking electric blue peep toe heels and flaunted her sexy style in a Kim Kadarshan look Bebe white knee length chiffon dress.
“Since I started DJing, I’ve not been able to hang out with most of my girls like I used to before and so this afternoon is dedicated to pure gossip,” chuckled Samia. The afternoon along with small talk gave the guests a great opportunity to network with a wide circuit of professionals both young and mature, who discussed business opportunities, charity events, and upcoming Bollywood parties. It sure was the party to see and be seen. Those who could not make it to this list, better luck next time!
