It was all about the women on Thursday evening October 23, 2008 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Westin Galleria Hotel in Houston , Texas . The Indo American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston along with Houston Minority Business Council and Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance presented a panel discussion on ‘Tomorrow’s Jobs for Today’s Woman’.
With some diverse panelists the event took off with excitement and rhythm. The moderator Indira Vishnampet, founder and CEO of Hydus did quite a decent job in engaging the audience.
The panelists included Jo Casady, Managing Director at the Prudential’s Greater Texas Agency since 2004. Her work involves achieving sales, market share, productivity targets and financial objectives.
Then straight from NASA, Sabrina Singh who trains astronauts on the spacesuit to do spacewalks. She has trained astronauts living on the International Space Station and Space shuttle, including Sunita Williams.
Also joined Sonal Bhuchar, who is not only a mother of three but also a physical therapist in practice for the last 27 years and President of the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees 2008-2009.
What made the event exciting was its simplicity and interaction with the audience. It did not consist of boring speeches and long lectures. Jo Casady told the inspiring young women entrepreneurs to learn to balance, that is to pick organizations that made a difference and get involved with them. “Networking is very important,” said Sabrina. She also assured the crowd that it is never too late.
This event that was sponsored by The Prudential Insurance Company of America concluded with a Q&A with the audience. “The Chamber enables hosting such events in order to increase awareness, a help network supporting you and your business succeed,” added Jagdip Ahluwalia.
