A Houston Community College with Potential
At the upcoming election on November 4th the Houston Community College is seeking to annex the Alief community into the HCC system. By doing this, students who live in Alief will pay the in-system tuition, which is half what they’re paying now, saving up to $1,600 per year. There are now 6,600 Alief residents going to various HCC campuses, so these students will see relief with the January 2009 semester.

Ruchi M in this story of a community college that is growing and serving the nation’s fourth largest city and its residents, talks to Neeta Sane, who is not only a trustee of HCC but also chair to the trustees in the expansion.
